Cicada

In Plato's' Phaedrus Socrates tells a myth about the cicadas and their song. He explains that they were once human, and so enamored by the muses they sang and danced neglecting to eat or sleep until they drop dead. The muses rewarded them so they can sing from birth to death without need for sleep or food. I find this to be an accurate description of life as an artist. Cicadas of course in many cultures also represent rebirth or resurrection and ongoing theme in my work. Make a statement in any room with this framed poster, printed on thick, durable, matte paper.
